difference between a cubic zirconia and a genuine diamond?

Im shopping for an engagement ring and I want to know the difference between a cubic zirconia and a genuine diamond. And I would appreciate any tips from people about buying an engagement ring. I was also wondering what is the difference between buying ur diamond from a walmart compare to sea? And also, what is a micro paved diamond? (I know these are a lot of questions, but i really need the help) Since we’re kinda young and need the money for furniture our budget is only a couple hundred $$. So do you think it would be best to go with 10K ring where the diamond is fake and get a splurge on the ring later when we have the money, because my friends are talking abt me making an investment, but i mean we NEED the money and you cant eat a diamond so.. im going to compromise. But i do want my ring to look nice.. give me suggestions and tips.

Please be serious …Im getting married in march.

Cubic Zirconia is not a diamond. It might look like a diamond and be almost as durable as a diamond but it’s still a Zirconia. They’re great as a cheap alternative to diamonds but like the other answerers said, they can go cloudy eventually. The other nice thing about CZ is that the quality of it doesn’t differ much from jeweler to jeweler, so whether you’re buying it from Walmart of Tiffany’s the stone will have the same qualities but you still need to look after the ring.

As for the investment, I’d look at the CZ ring as the investment. You don’t need a diamond and like you said, you can’t eat it or use it. So rather be practical and get the cheaper ring. If your friends go on about "fake stones" then tell them that your love isn’t fake and that there’s more to your relationship than a shiny piece of earth. Maybe in ten years time you can change the stones or get another ring. The value of diamond rings depends on the cut and setting because some of the more trendy rings do depreciate when the trends change. But my mother has a solitaire diamond and I know that it’s value has actually increased in the last 30 odd years.

And I just wanted to add: There are no slaves in South Africa. All the miners are free workers with salaries, contracts, medical insurance and such things. But yes, it is a dangerous job but mining of any kind is dangerous. Coal mining is just as dangerous and people still buy petrol.
