My engagement ring is very unique. It has a split band that is covered with pave diamonds. It's gorgeous and kind of thick on my finger. Do I have to have a wedding band or would it be okay to just use my engagement ring as both my wedding band and engagement ring? My ring is so unique that I don't think I could find anything that would compliment it and I really don't want to get something that would take away from it's beauty.
No. It is more than appropriate to just have an engagement ring serve as both the engagement ring and the wedding band. I have such a beautiful engagement ring that I do not need a wedding band either. It is just a tradition to have a wedding band but more and more brides are opting to just have an engagement ring alone. So, go ahead and be as unique as your engagement ring and choose to forgo having a wedding band. Whether you have one ring on or two does not matter. What matters is your love and relationship with your groom. (But a nice engagement ring doesn't hurt!
