Now that I am not engaged anymore, I am left with the wedding set. It’s antique and needs to be re-pronged and re-banded. The repairs will total 0. They were bought together for 0 and should appraise for 00. If I take it to a pawn shop I will get maybe 40% of what they are worth and then less because they need repairs. If I fix them so that I can sell them , it will need an appraisal () on top of the 0.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? They are pretty but are a reminder of the relationship and I don’t need them anymore.

I’m thinking a chocolate or cognac diamond for the center, and nine champagne diamonds surrounding it. My friends all say I should do the opposite, but I like the idea of my way better. Besides, with the darker stone it would be easier to get a .33 ct for a good price. I got 10 small champagne diamonds(certified non-conflict, of course) for on eBay!
Because he’d already forked over a great deal of money to buy us a house, and I’m still in school and holding down a part-time. low-paying job. I didn’t want to be that demanding. It’s enough that he’s marrying me. I just wanted this for myself, for our formal ceremony.

While cleaning out my grams apartment, I found a ring, that was hidden in a jewelry box in paper.(She was put into a nursing home, and I’m supposed to get all her old jewelry) I was given the box no one knowing what was in it. The metal on it though was tarnished severly. The picture is almost an exact match. The only thing is the band was almost black in color and tarnished. Can white gold tarnish that bad if it is not taken care of for years? (All her other wedding bands are white gold…with the exception of one that is yellow gold). The actual band was in excellent shape, it was just black…has anyone seen sever tarnishing in a ring probalby bought in the 30′s and never really taken care of? (No one really knows exactly how long it was in the jewelry box to begin with).

Here is the skinny. A long time ago probably in the 70’s, in Toronto– my father was dating this really pretty girl. I can’t remember her name—however he does. But, for some reason she gave my father her grand-mothers engagement ring. This thing was like a family heirloom. It was an antique classic—by far the most beautiful Scottish ring I have ever seen in my life. I asked my dad since she never got in contact with him if I could have it. He always told me, “no”. So, I asked him a couple of years ago if I could have it if I tried looking for her and by doing everything in my power to find her. To say the least I still could not find her. I tried my hardest. I opened up the phone book and began making phone calls to her last name. I don’t remember her name at this moment. And even if I did I wouldn’t post it—her name or my fathers, because the last thing I need are people who this ring doesn’t belong to o–saying it’s theirs. I often wondered why anyone would give their families ring away like that. I know I have been in love, but I don’t think I would give something that precious away to someone who I was not married too. I also wondered if she loved him enough to give him that ring, she obviously would remember his name. And let’s face it; men are easier to track down then women. I’m sure she got married or moved out of the country and had kids. She is probably around the same age as my dad (59 years). If she loved him that intensely you’d think she would Google his name, or his brothers last name—which is all over the internet—get in contact with him and then find my dad AND the ring. Anyways, I thought posting this link might be a good idea, since I Google several things and usually get yahoo.answers.com frequently.

I’ve been married now for 6 years. We were married when I was 20. We had a decent relationship before we were married. I’ve recently lost weight and have much for self confidence. I’m starting to contemplate divorce again. I’ve thought about it about 2 years ago but thought I would never find someone else. At that time he was going out after work-he worked 2nd shift and I work 9-5. When I would confront him about where he was going, he would tell me he was home all night and I must not have saw him laying on the couch. Then I would here some wild story about why he never answered his phone. No lately I found out that my wedding ring is not what he told me it was. What I mean is he told me he took out a loan to buy my ring (,500). The reason it was so expensive was the cut of the diamond. I payed on the loan a year after we were married. Well some people starting asking if it was antique. So that made me start to think. I brought it to a jewelers and they told me it’s worth apx 0 and it’s 15-20 years old. It was bought 7 1/2 years ago. I don’t care what the ring cost, that’s not the point, he shouldn’t have told that lie. He also expects me to cook dinner every night, clean the house and do laundry. I used to be fine with that but lately I’m getting sick of it. He has recently helped a little, but I don’t know how long it will last. I just need advice.
