My boyfriend and I were at a jewlery store today and he found a titanium wedding band he really loved, he’s in the military so he needs the toughest of rings. His ring was very masculine and I wouldn’t want mine to match it. I want a thin white gold band with diamonds all around and a large antique cushion cut pink sapphire engagement ring. Is it proper ettiquite today for couples wedding rings to be the same? Or would we be ok getting what we each want?

Do wedding rings have to match?
Saturday, February 25th, 2012My Aggien ring turns my finger black but my wedding ring does not?
Friday, February 17th, 2012For some reason when I get oily things on my hands my Aggie ring turns my finger black, but my wedding ring does not. My aggie ring is a 10 karat antiqued ring. You can see pictures here: http://aggietraditions.tamu.edu/aggiering.shtml. My wedding ring is a plain 14K gold band.
I first noticed this when I got hydraulic fluid on my hands one day, buthtought nothing of it because it was somewhat dirty. I did make some hamburgers the other day though and the fat in the meat made my finger turn black.
I will not quit wearing my aggie ring that is not an option. I would rather live with a black finger. Does anyone have an explanation or a fix for the problem. Thanks for the help.
What is your favorite piece of jewelry?
Monday, February 6th, 2012I have 2 rings I truly love. One is my wedding ring from Morocco and the other is an antique ring I had repaired and brough back to life that once belonged to my great-great-great grandmother.
YakHaircrazy: It really is. Jewelers in the US said it wasn’t worth repairing because it was so worn and the prongs were so badly damaged. A jeweler in Morocco did major work on it for an amazing price and I wear it every day. I am so glad I followed my heart and kept it all these years. ![]()
Wedding Bells or Just hopeful?
Wednesday, February 1st, 2012Boyfriend and I have been together for three years close to four this June. When we went past a church he said he would love to get married there, he has been overly affectionate to me of late and has mention numerous times he wants me to have his baby.
However when we went to an antique shop so I could get a new ring as my old one keeps slipping off. The owner produced an emerald and diamond ring, My boyfriend stood back and said "No that’s a bit to much of an engagement ring, I don’t want to start a trend here."
I looked away embarassed that he said that and he then picked a small ring to fit my pinkie finger saying that a pinkie ring would suit me better.
The event has left me confused. It’s like does he want me marry him (he has planned out things for us to do and mentions things of what we would be doing when we are older like say mid 40s/50s) or am I just turning the idea into something that I want and am reading to much into it?
He is 34 and I’m 25.
Where can I find an antique men’s Wedding band with some interesting history?
Thursday, January 26th, 2012I am marrying my best friend and soul mate. We’ve been best friends since 1998 and we have three beautiful children. I want to get this man something special, I was looking on the Honorable Company’s webs site but the ring that I had been saving for had been sold. It was from the Viking Era, was a size 11still wearable and after the husband had died the wife drilled small holes in it to wear it around her neck. Obviously this was a couple that loved each other very much. He loves history, dolphins and when I experssed my dissapointment when I found out it had been sold he said that he thought it was really special of me to give him something with that much history and meaning. We haven’t talked about it in a few months and he’s forgotten so I’m looking agian. Does anyone know of a site that sells authentic Midevil, Roman and or other jewlery? I feel very strongly that this is what I want to give him. Any ideas? I relies that they weren’t always called wedding bands what else?
What do I do? My in-laws are flipping nuts!!!?
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012Ok – So, they aren’t my in-laws quite yet, but I already avoid them like the plague! Its flipping nuts!
Here is some background info- My fiance was homeschooled (not that it really matters, but his mom has controlled his life FOREVER). He is the oldest of 2.
Here are some of the issues – We were looking at homes and by we in their eyes its he… they refuse to admit that it is my house as well (I do not live there full time(as my parents will not pay for my school if i do) but I do all of the cleaning, cooking, and shopping – He calls it our house and asks my advice on paint colors and what I want our hosue to be like etc.). So there is the first issue. We are engaged!!! Why in the world do they keep saying that "anything can happen" What is this anything? are they going to kill me off so he can’t marry me?!?!?!
My fiance will not step up to them and tell them no about anything. His dad has things stored in our barn (even though he has his own to store things at). His mom insists that our front room will be a sitting room while we have already concluded it on being a dining room, and of course we are to fill our house with antiques (because it was built in 1890). I picked out paint samples for the whole house and she ripped them up insisting it was much too dark and will make the rooms look too small (And they aren’t even dark colors) She decided that we should paint the whole house white…. (WHAT?!!?)
They feel as if they have dibs on the house!!! See, when we were looking we saw the house – 3 days later a bid was in and 2 days after that we had the house. His parents put up the cash for it, then my fiance got a mortgage and paid them back for the house.
Now, They say they are going to give us 10K for the wedding, but have subtracted everything we owe them (THAT WE DIDN"T EVEN ASK FOR). They put in a furnace and well while the home was still in their name. We were not ready to make these renovations but now they are taking it from our wedding money?!?!?!
So basically we are back to nothing at the wedding and don’t even have money for a deposit on a hall.
Our house got broken into and a few small powertools and batteries were stolen, but somehow that is my fiance’s fault.
Every time we see them they are complaining about SOMETHING that we had done wrong…
And the last time they came over to the house… they were upstairs for like 20 minutes… what are they doing upstairs there is only a bedroom? Does anyone else find that weird?
The one weekend we were sleeping in, and all of the sudden his dads truck pulls in our driveway and his phone rings in the middle of uhm… other activities! So we had to stop and then on top of it they brought some sausage that I "Could make with some eggs" So not only did they arrive unannounced – interrupt us – but expect me to make them breakfast!!!!?!????
What do I do? I don’t want to start a family argument but they are driving me nuts! They act like we are at their house but its not, then as if we are not a serious relationship. Its like they are in control of his life and its time to cut the umbilical cord…
so what to do?
Shopping for the Engagement Ring?
Friday, January 20th, 2012My fiancee is overseas. I am leaving in 3 weeks to join him in Europe. We are going to order an engagement ring via the internet, and I will just take it over with me, and he will propose. A little unusual, I know, but it’s the best we can do, with what we’ve got. I have came across some wedding ring websites, and found some rings. But I was wondering if you guys could recommend some secured websites as well? I love the antique, milgrain, filigree work. I’m also interested in having a Sapphire as the center stone. If possible, we would like to purchase a "set". Our budget is approx 00. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your responses. And as to why we are not purchasing something in Europe……well, have you seen the exchange rate lately? lol. It’s like paying double for half. I’d rather get the full dollars worth here in the US, than get a ring in Europe that’s not what I want, and that costs us a fortune. In other words, I would spend 1K there on a ring that would be only 0 here. Not really economical for us. We had wanted to do this at first, perhaps later on for an anniversary or something.
I know I really am enjoying being able to have some say in the ring. Of course he’s never bought jewelry in his entire life, so he was asking for guidance lol.
Here’s a link to the rings I’ve found so far that are within price range.

Antique ring. Would it decrease the value of this antique by replacing the missing stone?
Friday, January 6th, 2012I have recently inherited a filigree engagement ring and wedding band from 1929/1930 (the wedding band is inscribed 11/1930… so I assume the engagement ring is older). It was my great grandmother's. Ive yet to have it appraised because I have no intentions of selling it; I would love to keep it in the family. The ring is set with one center stone, and two small stones on each side. One of the smaller stones on the side is missing…
Would it decrease the value of this antique by replacing the stone?
(While I have no intentions of selling it, I would like to preserve it as best as possible)
does engagement ring have to stay on left hand after you are married?
Wednesday, January 4th, 2012…ok, I know it doesn't "have" to…but does anyone do that? I adore my engagement ring, and want to continue to wear it after we are married, but it is an antique gold ring and I prefer to wear silver.
We are purchasing wedding rings this week, and the one's that keep catching my eye are silver.
Thoughts?
Where can I find this engagement ring?
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012I am looking for an antique or "vintage" style wedding set with a SQUARE band…any ideas where I can look?
