Robbins Brothers Asks: Halo Diamond Engagement Ring or Traditional Solitaire?

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

If you’re engagement ring shopping (or dreaming) you’ve encountered several different styles of rings. If you had to choose between the Halo Diamond Engagement Ring (a round, oval or cushion-cut diamond encircled by a "halo" of micro pave diamonds) or a traditional solitaire diamond ring, which would you select?

Ladies, what does your dream wedding/engagement ring look like?

I was just wondering, here a pictures of my dream wedding EVERYTHING.

Is it too late to ask for a refund?

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

ok so I took my engagement ring to the jewelers because I wanted the diamond lowered… so in order to do that they had to put a new head on it… well when I got the ring back this past Tuesday night I was just so happy to have it back again I didn’t even inspect it…

So my fiance and I are grocery shopping after picking it up and I was looking at my ring and two things caught my eye… ONE… the freaking new head that was put on there was glued or something because you could see the freaking glue underneath the head of the mounting if you look closely… I mean it’s not totally visible, but I can see it and it just looks cheap to me!

BUT what was visible was it looked like they replaced one of my diamonds on my ring! My ring is a pave setting and it has 6 diamonds on each side of the main diamond… well on the right side of the main diamond, the 2nd diamond was BROWN!!! It was completely visible!!!!!!

So we took it back the next day and now it’s the 3rd time I’m sending my ring back…. I’ve only been engaged for 6 months…

So when we took it back, the lady that we’ve been dealing with was SUPERRRR pissed that their jeweler did such a horrible and sloppy job. Apparently what looked like a brown diamond, was the regular diamond that was in there before, but the jeweler got solder on the bottom of it and it made it look a different color… and the glue that was visible, was also solder that she didn’t file down…. I mean the ring looked like crap. I so badly just want to have my fiance ask for his money back so we can go somewhere else where they have a reputable jeweler… but we’ve had the ring since June… I’m not sure if their going to do that… it’s just a nighmare. The sucky part is that the customer service is amazing and we don’t want to go in there and raise hell…. But what else are we supposed to do?

We have had nothing but problems with it…When my fiance proposed to me the wedding band that came with the engagement ring was missing a diamond and he had the ring for a freaking day! Then when we went to turn in the band, they noticed that one of the side diamonds on my ering was about to fall out… so they fixed it but its also a messy solder job… I’m just so fed up! You think that paying almost ,000 for the freaking thing, it would last longer than 6 months!!! UGHHHH!!! I don’t know what to do!!

Is it too late to demand a new ring, but with the same diamond that we purchased? Or a refund to go somewhere else where we wont have this problem?

I mean this ring is supposed to last me my whole life, and it hasn’t even made it through 6 months and it’s already falling apart…..

does anyone know if it makes a difference between white gold and platinum when it comes to pave settings?

I've heard two different stories from two different jewelers. My engagement ring is white gold and white gold wedding rings are right in my budget. Am I more prone to loose a stone from pave setting white gold vs. platinum?

rhodium plating a pave engagement ring?

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

my boyfriend and I just got my engagement ring and today we went to a couple jewelers to ask about cleaning, they told us we should have it rhodium plated which I know makes it look brand new and amazing but my band is a pave setting like this: http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/files/519%20Dvatche%20half%20pave%20solitaire%20band.gif
or

http://www.5thavenuedesigns.com/files/pictures/242/pave%20band.jpg

and we're a little worried about it ruining the setting or diamonds in it so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

Thank you :)

Where can I find a ring like this?

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Ok, I really suck at this whole searching for things on the internet deal, so if anyone could help, it’d be great.!

I want a ring like this:

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/ring/item_412-2263.asp

BUT, i only want one row of diamonds around the center stone, and I do’nt necessarially want diamonds on the band. Yellow gold would be preferable, but not necessary.

Thank you so much! =)

Help on Engagement Rings! I’m second guessing myself!?

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

Ok. I very much so enjoy the unique. For my wedding set I want something DIFFERENT. Something beautiful and timeless. Something that just leaps at me and says “Im the one!”. I thought I found it on bluenile.com but now that my boyfriend’s been asking if I’m sure it’s the one…I’m not anymore! It’s vintage, unique but simple…and beautiful. Do you like the pave band or smooth band better? It’s a .7 carat center diamond….does it look proportional? Should it be bigger/smaller?

Give me an opinion.
Tell me where you got your ring.
What it looks like.
If you’ve used Blue Nile…what was your experience like?
Any suggestions of somewhere else for us to look for a ring?

Thank you thank you!

Here's a link to the Blue Nile site…let me know if it works

http://www.bluenile.com/design.jsp?filter_id=1&ring_size=6.5

P.S. Price is not something I'm concerned about, we're not wealthy…the ring is simple yet beautiful…just like our relationship.
One last link….

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-platinum_7814?filter_id=1&collection_id=236

you cant see the other options with this link but if you want to search the site…it's the one that looks just like this but with a smooth band. And the wedding band is a plain platinum pave band.

Is a solitaire the traditional engagement ring?

Monday, June 13th, 2011

My boyfriend and I have been shopping for engagement rings recently, and I found the ring of my dreams. It's a princess cut, three-stone ring with a pave band. But I've heard that traditionally you recieve a solitaire for and engagement ring, and three stones are more for anniversaries. Are three-stone rings popular engagement rings, or should I look at solitaires?

Can I have five larger diamonds broken down into a large amount of smaller diamonds?

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

My fiance’s mother passed along her wedding band to him to give to me for my wedding band. Her husband had passed away many years ago and was so sweet to give us a band with 5 larger diamonds in it. However, they don’t match the single strip of pave diamonds on my engagement ring, which is what I’m looking to have happen. So, I would need to have the 5 larger diamonds broken down into smaller diamonds. I’m wondering if this can be done, if anyone has had this done, and if it is worth it (how much did it cost to have them broken down). Thanks for your time and any help you can provide me with!
