My ring is only a few months old and I got it resized before it left the store.

For some reason now I can see where they resized it and looks like a different ‘metal’ or its discoloured – is this normal? …. should I be taking it back to the jewellery store and asking questions?
hmmm well I asked for white gold – I don’t like the yellow gold at all… so hope the white gold was ‘pure’.
.. sounds like I’ll be paying the store a visit! Thanks people!

It is a very wide band, and I understand that it could simply be a matter of water or something being trapped and causing my skin to get irritated, but it has only been within the last month that it began bothering me. Is it possible the jeweler who made it put something on it to make it less likely to irritate skin when it was new, and now it has simply worn off?

I am looking for an engagenent ring set with the above criterea that has a precious stone other than a regular diamond. Perhaps a blue diamond, or some other unique stone. Any ideas?

My jewler told me this is because of a number of factors, including what percent of platinum vs. yellow gold was mixed when the ring was made. He also said the composition of a person’s skin can make white gold "turn" faster or slower.

Anyway, I don’t know if it’s better to get it dipped in rodium or titanium, both of which I’ve heard are used. Or is it better to just let it go?

I am trying to buy my engagement ring but the one I want the company went under and they are no longer making the rings. Everyone I have tried has them in yellow gold (which I hate) and is sold out of the white gold. Does anyone know if it would be possible to buy a yellow gold ring and have it plated in white gold? Would it ruin the ring? Would it hold up? And would it look good?
