What you have is PLATE. It(real gold) does NOT change color and you don't have to replate it. Gold comes in 9k, 10k, 12k,14k.18k and 22k. 24k gold it too soft to wear. Gold also comes in Rose and Green besides White and Yellow. The colors are make by adding alloys to the gold. It also makes it harder. The lower the Karat mark, the less gold content.
