Will salt water damage a sapphire and white gold engagement ring?

I will be on vacation and plan to swim in the ocean quite a bit. Would it be a problem to wear the ring in the ocean?

If it makes a difference, it is an un-heated sapphire.

Salt water will not hurt the sapphire or the white gold. However, I would not advise swimming in the ocean wearing any valuable ring – fingers tend to get smaller when exposed to colder temperatures. There's a chance that your ring could fall off of your finger while you're in the ocean. I wouldn't do it!
